Apps aplenty on route
Adobe has announced that it will be launching an SDK for its Photoshop application to enable developers to build tablet applications that interact with with the software for Android, BlackBerry and iOS devices. ?
“Adobe is extending the creative process beyond the desktop by helping integrate tablet devices into creative workflows,” says the company.
A new scripting engine in Adobe Photoshop and an enhanced Photoshop Software Development Kit (SDK) will allow developers to create third-party apps.
To kick start the new initiative, Adobe also announced three new iPad applications that demonstrate the creative possibilities of using tablets to drive common Photoshop workflows: Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop.
Adobe Eazel will allow you to draw on your iPad and then send the picture straight to Photoshop over a Wi-Fi network to continue working on it.
Adobe Color Lava allows you to create new colours as if your iPad was a painters palette and then send that colour to Photoshop, while Adobe Nav for Photoshop lets you create a custom set of controls and access menu bars live on your computer - ultimately making your tablet a companion device rather than a solo one.
