Foxconn to Open New Production Line in Brazil; Home for Apple’s Products?

South American publication Bom Dia is reporting that Chinese manufacturer Foxconn intends to open a new factory in Brazil, one that could be used specifically to produce Apple gear. This would be welcome news, especially considering the recent iPad 2 shortages and delays.

Foxconn already has two assembly lines in Jundiai, Brazil, but these are meant to produce devices for HP and Sony. Apple could get its own plant, courtesy of the Chinese giant, that admitted they were looking at a new plant, but didn’t mention their Cupertino partners. Meanwhile, Apple refuses to comment on the story.

JMP Securities analyst Alex Gauna recently mentioned that Foxconn could be the one to blame for Apple not being able to deliver all the iPad units that the public wants. We have to remind you that the iPad 2 was sold out in a day or two after its launch and it had to delayed for up to a month in countries like the Czech Republic. A new factory will surely come in handy…
