Acer Preparing Intel Android Tablet PC for July Launch

Taiwanese notebook vendor Acer will launch a tablet PC based on the Intel Oak Trail platform and the product might reach stores in July, according to recent info. Mass production is taking place right now, courtesy of Compal Electronics.

The sources with this info have been mentioning that Intel is quite aggressive when it comes to persuading downstream partners to launch tablet PCs based on Intel/Android. Acer, Lenovo and Asustek are among the companies that will promote this technology. Aside from the combo between a 10 inch display, Oak Trail and Android, Acer is also looking into combining Oak Trail with MeeGo.

Considering Intel’s love for this OS, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see quite a bunch of MeeGo models till the year end, but not as many as the Android ones.
