This is truly a beautiful gadget! Motorola Xoom was recently analyzed by our man in Barcelona, Zsolt Tamassy, also reporting for sister sites GSMDome.com and Mobilisismo.ro. He found the device to be incredibly powerful and easy to use, but let’s hope that the rumored price tag of $1200 is not real. As you can see in the video, the slate has no keys at all and it’s all about the touch experience.
It uses a 10.1 inch touch display (1280 x 800 pixels), covered with the Gorilla Glass layer and inside there’s a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU, plus 32GB of storage and 1GB DDR2 RAM. At the back we can spot a 5MP camera with LED flash and support for 720p capture, while at the front there’s a 2MP camera.
The device also uses a HDMI 2.0 port, a USB 2.0 one and a charging port. We are shown how customizable Honeycomb can be, so you can personalize panels the way you want, move widgets around, basically see every major feature or app in a thumbnail mode, while the application is also being used. True multitasking is available and you get a list of apps, just like on Android 2.3.
The music player interface is simplistic and the way you view album covers is 3D and looking nice. Also, if you’re listening to music and you have to start working again or you have to go, you can immediately access the music player and turn it off with ease, thanks to the intuitive menu. Motorola Xoom includes a couple of stereo speakers at the back and we’re informed that it takes only 3.5 hours for it to fully charge.
This new tablet provides 8 to 10 hours of working time and the users looking for apps to run on it must know that a special Honeycomb market will be created. A bunch of accessories are also shown in the video, like a special dock and a Bluetooth keyboard optimized for Android. If there’s any product that can defeat the iPad, then this is it!
