If you weren’t paying attention, you might have missed it. It was only earlier today that we got news of Google acquiring user generated restaurant rating service, Zagat — and now we have an update to Google Maps in the Android Market. Users now have the ability to upload pics along with their reviews of Places, adding even more insight when it comes to choosing that next eatery in your area. I’m a big foodie and love creating and reading reviews for restaurants so this comes as a much welcomed update. Woot!

Google Maps Updated to 5.9, Adds Transit Notifications, Tablet Support and Bubble Buttons

Google has just pushed a pretty nice update to the Android market for Google Maps. Version 5.9 has added a few useful features. Firstly, you’ll be able to set up custom notifications for transit navigation in cities that support it. Secondly, that transit support has finally made its way to the tablet version of the app (you know, because people actually do carry tablets now). Finally, bubble buttons has returned after disappearing for a short period. When a map result pops up, you can call or navigate directly from that popup instead of having to go to the full Place page. A convenience feature, but a handy one. Go on and grab 5.9 in the Android market. [Source]
