HTC Schedules September 20th Media Event, What Will they Showcase?

This image has no alt text

HTC is sending out invites for a September 20th press event, though they are keeping their lips sealed as to what we might see on show in NYC come that date. With the Titan and Radar, both Windows Phone 7 devices, unveiled at an event earlier this month, the only big device’s HTC has left on their slate are of the Android variety. The HTC Vigor makes sense, as it is expected to be launching sometime in October and could be the debut handset featuring Beats audio integration. But, as BGR points out, there is a possibility we could see a somewhat less exciting device in the HTC Bliss The invite asks us to “celebrate in style” and the event takes place within days of New York’s Fashion Week — obvious connections can be drawn to the rumored female target audience of the Bliss. We’ll be bringing you the up to the minute coverage, so no matter what is on display we’ll have any news and announcements on lock.

Samsung Voluntarily Removes Galaxy Tab 7.7 from IFA Show Floor

We know a German court’s decision to ban the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in parts of Europe effects the sale of Samsung devices, but would you believe it could also cause the company to pull the new Galaxy Tab 7.7 from its display at IFA, where it was formally unveiled. That is exactly what happened, though Samsung says it made the move voluntarily out of respect for the ruling handed down by a the District Court in Dusseldorf on September 2nd. While we assume Samsung still has plans for the new tablet, which looked mighty fine with its large Super AMOLED Plus display, current legal battles are making it difficult to know for sure when we might see its release.

The cat is officially out of the bag. We already knew that Samsung was making a killing with the Galaxy S2, selling 5 million in the phone’s first 85 days. That number is about to drastically increase as Samsung has just announced availability in the United States on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

Although we know most of the details, we’re reporting live from the event and will surely have hands-on footage to share with you soon. So stay tuned!

[Update]

Here are a couple videos from the event, including a brief intro from Todd Pendelton, Samsung’s Chief Market Officer, and the unveiling of the Galaxy S II lineup.

Samsung Sells One Galaxy S2 Every 1.5 Seconds, 5 Million After 85 Days

Samsung just hooked us up with their press kit at the Galaxy S2 launch even in NYC and in it was a rather interesting infographic claiming the company sells a Galaxy S device every 1.5 seconds. Wow.

It first launched on April 29th and the mathetmatical comparisons of sales figures to Mt. Everest, Soccer Fields, Elephants and Father Time aren’t only interesting, but pretty mind blowing. With the US set to pump out Galaxy S devices courtesy of T-Mobile and Sprint, I’m wondering what comparison would come next?

We have been waiting what feels like decades for the official US unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S II, and thanks to a pesky weather event beyond any human control we will be waiting at least one day longer. The media event originally scheduled to take place in the New York City this Monday, August 29th, has been postponed until Tuesday as a mandatory evacuation has been ordered for over 250,000 people living in the city and plans have been made to suspend public transportation over the weekend. But come August 30th things should be back in order, and we’ll be there live bringing you announcements as they unfold.

HTC: “Join Us to See What’s Next” in London Night Before IFA

Well it looks like we have two major OEMs hosting their own shindigs coinciding with IFA in Berlin, Germany. Along with Samsung, HTC has announced an event titled “Join us to see what’s next,” set to kick off on September 1st, the day before the massive conference is scheduled to kick off. So what could we be in store for?

Many HTC devices have been rumored over the past couple of months. Considering this is all Europe-centric, I’d venture to guess that the HTC Ruby will be at the top of the list of announcements we see. It’s poised to be HTC’s most powerful smartphone ever with its 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Other rumors peg it as having a 4.3 inch qHD display and 1GB of RAM.

There’s also tthe HTC Holiday which is rumored to be a 4.5 inch device but falls more in line with the HTC Sensation 4G specs wise.

Other possibilities include the HTC Puccini, HTC’s first honeycomb tablet which we believe will have scribe support and is in line with most current Honeycomb tablets in terms of specs. We’ve also been hearing of an HTC Pico lately that could be the next smallish device from Europe.

And how could we forget about the HTC Vigor rumored to be HTC’s first “Beats by Dre” phone following an announcement that they’ve bought the company out? That’ll surely be a treat to see if they bring it along for the ride

And we’re hopeful there will be some other surprises to be had at the event. It’s open to the public so if you’re just as curious as we are, be sure to get on over there and check out everything they have in store. Come on back and give us your thoughts and impressions if you do attend! Facebook.com for event details.

Dancing Android Robot Runs Into PvZ Zombie at GamesCon [Video]

Sony Ericsson’s back at it, letting the dancing “bug droid” (Google’s “official” name for the mascot) entertain the masses at their GamesCon booth. Except it now has competition – the main zombie from Plants vs Zombies. I’ve gotta say – it’s hard for the big puffy Android mascot to match up to the mean and lean brain eater. I’m sorry, bug droid, but waddling around while your opponent is doing spinning head stands is not going to cut it.

Samsung Hosting Galaxy S II Event in NYC August 29

Invitations have just arrived for a media event to be hosted by Samsung on August 29th in NYC. The guest of honor? Why that would be the Samsung Galaxy S II. The agenda? The US launch of the highly-anticipated device that has been available in other parts of the world for a few months now. It looks like we will miss the August launch Samsung’s JK Shin promised (unless you count an announcement in the final days of August as a launch), but the good news is a September release seems more than likely. The private event for members of the press and media will introduce us to the US carrier variants of the Galaxy S II, and we’ll be on the scene bringing all the live coverage you could crave.

Samsung Postpones Australian Galaxy Tab 10.1 Launch Event

A new wrinkle in the latest chapter of the Apple v. Samsung saga has appeared. After the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was initially blocked in Australia pending further litigation, Samsung has announced that a media event coinciding with the launch of the tablet scheduled for August 11th has been postponed. It should be noted that Samsung still has plans to sell the Tab 10.1 in Australia, as they made very clear yesterday. A new date for the event has not been announced.
