HTC Rhyme to Be Street Name for the HTC Bliss

This image has no alt text

While Bliss seemed like a pretty spot-on name for an Android smartphone tailored to women, a new promotional shot of the device reveals that it will go by the name HTC Rhyme in some if not all regions. When the Rhyme name first surfaced the popular opinion was that the brand would be associated with a Beats Audio handset, but it remains unclear if the artist formerly known as Bliss will sport the audio technology.

The phone pictured alongside the HTC Rhyme tag lacks the familiar green hue of the Bliss, but is the same handset nonetheless. Perhaps the Rhyme becomes the international version with less focus placed on female users. Perhaps we still see an HTC Bliss as a Verizon version of the phone. We may know soon enough, as HTC is set to unveil some new toys next week at a media event in NYC.

HTC Runnymede and Bliss Get Detailed in New Specs Leak, Beats Audio Inside

This image has no alt text

New leaks are drawing light to the many rumors circulating around two upcoming HTC handsets, the HTC Runnymede and the HTC Bliss The Bliss will feature a 3.7-inch WVGA display and 1GHz Qualcomm CPU. It features dual cameras on the front and rear, with the latter snapping at 5MP and the former featuring a VGA resolution. The specs are similar to what we would expect out of a high end device coming out sometime in 2010, but in 2011 they create a device on the upper end of the mid-range scale, totally serviceable and most likely at a fair price. It fits the mold that has been cast for the Bliss, a handset designed to be appealing to the fairer of the two sexes. A glowing “charm” indicator is ideal for dangling outside of a purse, alerting the user to calls, texts, and notifications while the handset remains muffled deep in the bottom of the bag. The Bliss is known to be outfitted with Android Gingerbread and a freshly updated version of HTC Sense.

On the other end of the spectrum is the HTC Runnymede, a phone which borrows heavily from the recently announced WP7 HTC Titan. It is similar in size with a gargantuan 4.7-inch display and waistline measuring only 9.9mm thick. Tucked inside you will find a single-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip. An 8MP camera is capable of 720p video capture. A big addition, as displayed prominently on the back of the handset in a newly-leaked promo shot, is the inclusion of Beats Audio.

HTC sure has a knack for covering every niche in the smartphone market, and with dual-core beasts like the HTC Vigor also in the lineup it looks like it could be another big holiday season for the Taiwanese manufacturer.

HTC Sense 3.5 Previewed in 5 Minute Video

This image has no alt text

If the paltry set of screenshots of HTC Sense 3.5 that leaked last week weren’t enough, we’ve got another helping of leak stew for you. And this one is even more chunky. Someone at XDA.cn has gotten their hands on an HTC Bliss running HTC Sense 3.5 and decided to give us a five minute look on video.

Everything we learned before is still there, but we now know that you can add and remove homescreens – something people have been screaming for since the HTC Hero first launched. We’re also given a look at a few new animations on their widgets, the new movies application and the new (and VERY smooth) screen rotation animation. There’s a lot to see here and it all looks very, very nice. Grab a bowl and hit that play button up above. [XDA.cn via Droid-Life]

XDA China Gives Us Our First Look at HTC Sense 3.5

Yesterday XDA.cn provided us with images of the upcoming HTC Bliss for Verizon, and today they have gone a step further by providing some screen grabs of the new HTC Sense 3.5 build that will ship on the new handset. While much of what will be different in the new version of Sense remains a mystery, it is being reported that it will be capable of running on older devices. Provisions built into Sense 3.0 made a hefty order of running the custom Android UI on devices without the specs to handle it. From the images we can see some updated Sense widgets, new homescreen buttons for the app tray and dialer, and the app launching unlock screen. So far the changes have us pretty interested in this new take on Sense, how about you?

HTC Bliss Makes Blur-Free Appearance, Not as Green as We Thought It’d Be

This image has no alt text

The HTC Bliss while not the most powerful, is certainly one of the more interesting phones we’ve been hearing about. It was first rumored to be a lady-centric device, employing a soothing green hue for its chassis and a charm that’ll light up when a notification is received.

While we’re still a bit iffy about the truth of that last one, it definitely does look a bit like what was described to us a while ago. I can’t tell from the photo, but the green hue here is not as strong as we imagined it’d be. It looks to be a very easy light olive green, but we can’t say for sure.

Other things in the image confirm that this will have a front-facing camera and judging by the picture of it in the model’s hand (below), it looks like it could be 3.7-4 inches. As for other rumored specs, this one is said to have an 800MHz processor, likely the same one inside the HTC Status ChaCha. It should also come with Android 2.3 and an older version of HTC Sense. HTC Bliss Spotted In the Wild

This image has no alt text

I didn’t know it was “Take Your Unreleased Smartphone to Work Day,” but a couple shots of the HTC Bliss sitting pretty at the office suggest otherwise. Kidding aside, the unreleased Bliss matches up with just everything we have been hearing, from the off-green color to a design language fitting of recent HTC models.

The Bliss is just your average Android handset in most areas, though the plan is to market the phone towards the fairer sex and push a selection of lifestyle accessories — everything from a dock to a wireless charm that pulsates with light in reaction to phone notifications. The phone seems ripe for a fall launch and is rumored to be headed for Verizon.

HTC Bliss Says Hello to the FCC

This image has no alt text

The female-centric HTC Bliss for Verizon has made a stop at the FCC following a few leaks. It’s come with Verizon’s CDMA radios inside alongside radios for use around the world. We still don’t know a whole lot about the phone, but we can at least expect this thing right before Q4 rolls around as it has been rumored to launch September 29th. If you don’t remember, the HTC Bliss is supposed to be a stylish phone meant for women. While we aren’t huge fans of gender separation when it comes to technology, Verizon might have a good idea on their hands to attract another demographic to Android. [FCC via Engadget]

HTC Bliss Rumored to Ship with Sense 3.5

This image has no alt text

If I were to tell you the HTC Bliss will feature a rather bland, mid-range spec sheet, you probably wouldn’t be surprised. But what if I told you it might ship with a new version of HTC’s Sense user interface? That’s the latest word on the street when it comes to the Bliss, HTC’s handset supposedly designed with the softer of the two genders in mind. The handset’s CPU is said to be clocked at 800MHz and accompanied by an Adreno 205 GPU, but more interestingly its Android 2.3.4 build is rumored to be cloaked in HTC Sense 3.5. Currently Sense sits at version 3.0. What will change in the next iteration of HTC’s favorable Android skin will remain like the release date of the Bliss: a mystery.

Leaked Verizon Roadmap Outs Launch Dates And Device Names For Android’s Upcoming Heavy Hitters

This image has no alt text

Might wanna grab your diapers folks ‘cuz we have one HUGE Verizon leak for you guys. The above screenshot comes to us from the guys over at IGN and it reveals the names and release dates for a number of Android heavy hitters coming to Verizon in the next few months. Let’s take it from the top:

  • Samsung Stratosphere – This was originally known as the Aegis and seems to be coming with 4G LTE capabilities and Android 2.3. Can we say, “Galaxy S II?” Looks to be launching September 8th.
  • Motorola DROID BIONIC – We pretty know everything there is to know about this device and it looks to be launching on September 8th as well.
  • Samsung Illusion – Original name was the Viper. This is most likely a mid-level 3G phone but with Android 2.3 and launching September 29th.
  • HTC Bliss – This is the girly Android 2.3 phone that comes with a charm that lights up when you have a message. Launching September 29th (w/complimentary butterfly tattoo).
  • HTC Vigor – We’ve been hearing about this phone for awhile. It’s going to take the Android world by force with its 720p display and will be replacing the Thunderbolt (already?) as the premier 4G phone from HTC on Verizon. Launches on October 5th.
  • LG Revolution 2 – Not much is known about this device other than it’s the sequel to the original Revolution. Maybe this time they’ll use a dual-core, perhaps?
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab PS – Nothing is known on this tablet other than it seems to be a new version of the Galaxy launching in November. Maybe this is the smaller 8.9 inch model?

So there you have it folks. As usual, all of these launch dates are subject to change and most likely will. Even if Verizon will be experiencing a bit of a dry spell through August, the rest of the year looks jam packed for the carrier. Now, I’m going to turn this over to you. I want to know how this monster leak will influence your buying decisions for the rest of the year? Bionic? Stratosphere? HTC Vigor? Lets us know in the comments!
