Verizon Catalog Lists HTC Thunderbolt With Android 2.3 Gingerbread – OTA Update Coming Soon

This image has no alt text

Looks like Verizon is already listing the HTC Thunderbolt as coming equipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread in their upcoming fall catalog. The catalog should be arriving in stores any day now and with only a few more weeks left in September, we’re getting closer to that deadline HTC promised us about back in August. T-Bolt users shouldn’t have to wait much longer for their Gingerbread treats. Hang tight.

Via their Facebook page, HTC has announced that we can expect the Android 2.3 update for the Droid Incredible and Thunderbolt on Verizon to begin rolling out in September. The month kicks off tomorrow, but an exact date wasn’t given. We have seen leaks and heard whispers of both updates over the past months, but it looks like some more Gingerbread goodness will be dropping onto Big Red’s lineup within the next 30 days.

HTC Thunderbolt Only 1 Penny at Amazon [Deals]

After the HTC Thunderbolt debuted at $250, we saw many discounts bringing it under the $200 mark users were comfortable with. We’ve even seen it below the $100 mark at once point in time. Nothing can beat today’s deal, though – Amazon’s offering the Thunderbolt up for only a penny.

It’s no Sensation or EVO 3D, but you’re still getting a great phone by HTC with access to arguably the fastest 4G network in America. And the single-core processor inside runs Sense (2.1) just fine, thank you very much. Amazon.com if you want in on it.

New Gingerbread Build Leaks for HTC Thunderbolt

Another build of the Gingerbread update for the HTC Thunderbolt has been making its rounds among the Android developer community. The latest Android 2.3 build goes by version number 2.10.605.1, a slight bump up from the intial build leaked earlier in the week. The necessary files and instructions are available over at XDA, but given the freshness of this leak you may want to wait until the community at large has a chance to dissect it a bit. Install-friendly ROMs will likely follow in short order.

Official Gingerbread Update for the HTC Thunderbolt Leaked

If you’ve been an HTC Thunderbolt user patiently waiting for your turn to go at it with Gingerbread well, tonight might be your night. Or not, depending how you look it. Build number 2.07.605.0 was recently leaked for the Tbolt and although this will not be the final Verizon build, it is an official build from HTC (unlike all those test builds leaked in the past). While we can’t guarantee that updating to this version will allow you to update the final Verizon, if you feel like you’ve had enough of Froyo the instructions on updating are easy peasy.

For download links hit up the source below. Remember, Phandroid will not be held responsible for you bricking your device if something goes wrong. Even if you decide to pass on this update, it’s nice to know that we’re a least a few builds closer to that official OTA update from Verizon, isn’t it?

Thanks, Jeffery!

HTC: Thunderbolt Getting Gingerbread in Q3 2011… Because We Missed Q2 2011

Well, an HTC representative has confirmed that the HTC Thunderbolt will be getting Gingerbread this quarter. Doesn’t tell us much, folks, because before they said it’d be getting the Gingerbread man last quarter. And it’s very possible they could miss this new window, as well. Bottom line, Gingerbread’s coming but don’t hold your breath on a pinpointed date until you see that OTA notification smiling right back at you. [Droid-Life]
