Winning Android Market Comment Of The Day Goes To… [Humor]

This image has no alt text

Today’s winning comment from the Android Market goes to… this guy (above). Apparently, Dan doesn’t understand that when you install a launcher replacement from the Market and change your homescreen that it — well, changes your homescreen. Rather than take the time to repopulate his new homescreen (Launcher Pro) with icons and widgets, he uninstalled the app after 30 seconds. In one last effort to kick developer Federico Carnales in the shins, he would later reinstall the app just so he could rate it the app 1 star. Ahhhhh… Android n00bs. Gotta love ‘em.

RIM Mistakingly Shows Off HTC Device In New Blackberry Promo Video [Lawl]

Awwww, look — it’s the new Blackberry 9803647 pretending to be “hip” and “new.” How cute. Today, RIM released this promo video of a launch party held in honor of their latest dumbphone, showing off the all new OS it will be running (yawn). The new Blackberry can run games! And message! And — wait — is that an Android device in the video? Either I stepped into the Twilight Zone where HTC is making the next Blackberry device or it seems RIM may have gotten a little confused with their own OS. In an attempt at displaying their new keyboard software (0:15 and 0:27), RIM somehow managed to mix up their Blackberry 9763545 with an HTC device (looks like an Incredible 2). I know, a small slip-up but funny none-the-less. Can’t say how long this video will remain up but back to the editing room, boys!

UPDATE: RIM pulled the video but not before my boy, @juanaguilar_45 was able to download. Here it is again:

Thanks, Denis!

Dancing Android Robot Runs Into PvZ Zombie at GamesCon [Video]

Sony Ericsson’s back at it, letting the dancing “bug droid” (Google’s “official” name for the mascot) entertain the masses at their GamesCon booth. Except it now has competition – the main zombie from Plants vs Zombies. I’ve gotta say – it’s hard for the big puffy Android mascot to match up to the mean and lean brain eater. I’m sorry, bug droid, but waddling around while your opponent is doing spinning head stands is not going to cut it.

Google’s Email Intervention Helps You Get Your Friends Off Those “Embarrassing” Email Addresses

This image has no alt text

Let’s face it – these days, we take one look at an @yahoo, @aol or @msn email address and we snicker. Go on, admit it. Well instead of ridiculing those who are stuck in the year 2000, why not help them out with an Email Intervention? Get them off of the email services usually associated with immature school children and get them on to something that has a bit of “coolness” to it. Let them experience the joys of email elitism as they flaunt their Gmail. And really, Gmail just sounds a lot cooler than anything except for a government or school email address. Watch the amusing clip above, but if you want to seriously help a family member or friend move over to Gmail use their Email Intervention tool now. [Thanks Vlad!] PS: If you’re going to tell me that this is “old news” or that “news must be slow today”, I have a different sort of intervention in mind for you. :)

Google’s Executive Chairman Spotted In The Wild Spotted Sporting a Blackberry

Well, this is embarassing. Came across this post from Crackberry and in what likely gave Blackberry users a good chuckle, Google’s former CEO and current executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, was spotted snapping pics all over Asia using his favorite smartphone… THE BLACKBERRY (shaking my head). This isn’t the first time homeboy’s been spotted with the device. He was caught back in ’09 with his gold plated BB snapping pics (below).

While I honestly think this is more funny than anything, I guess it would be the equivalent of Col. Sanders eating at Popeye’s or something of that nature (even if Schmidt is no longer Google’s CEO). I mean, couldn’t he have just picked up one of the many Android/Blackberry clones out there? I guess there’s something about using an simplistic and aging phone OS that the guy likes. Don’t worry, I’m sure he has the Nexus Prime in his back pocket.
