Not Forgotten by Verizon, LG Enlighten Still “Coming Soon”

The LG Enlighten was rumored to launch on August 25th, but a few weeks later the handset remains absent from Verizon’s shelves. We wouldn’t have noticed either way. Though the mid-range slider seems forgettable, it is still set of a launch with Big Red. In an upcoming catalog, the carrier displays the handset along with a promise that it is “coming soon.” As a refresher, the Enlighten features a 3.2-inch display, Android 2.3, and 800MHz CPU.

LG Enlighten to be Sold by Walmart for Less Than a Dollar

Verizon’s LG Enlighten is an interesting phone, combining all that was successful with the LG Optimus One with a hardware keyboard. We’re sure it would have gotten a ton of looks at retail, but now that Walmart is said to be selling it for $.97 as evidenced by its appearance in this upcoming week’s product catalog, we’d say many-a new smartphone owner will get their hands on this one before considering anything else. It has a 3.2 inch display, a 3 megapixel camera and an 800MHz processor, and if LG makes this thing feel anything like the Optimus One, we can’t imagine that chipset would fail to handle Android + LG’s UI nicely. Be on the lookout for it starting Sunday, I suppose. [PhoneArena]

What you see here is Verizon’s LG Enlighten a mid-range handset that best fills the hole left by last year’s LG Vortex Otherwise known as the LG Gelato Q, the Enlighten features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 800MHz processor, and 3.2-inch display. Rumors place the phone on Verizon’s shelves come August 25th with an attractive $100 (give or take) price point.

Verizon’s LG Enlighten is a Mid-Range Slider with a Possible August 25th Release

Earlier today we learned the the LG Gelato Q would launch on Verizon as the LG Enlighten and thanks to some new information picked up by DroidLife we are being enlightened (I know, I know) on what to expect when the phone launches on Verizon, supposedly around August 25th. The handset will fill the void left by the LG Ally a similar handset in terms of specs. The Enlighten features a slide-out keyboard, 800MHz processor, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Similarly to the Ally, we don’t expect this one to steal the hearts of the public upon release.

Verizon’s LG Gelato Q to be named LG Enlighten at Launch

Phew, we’re glad that’s cleared up. No, Verizon’s forthcoming QWERTY slider form LG won’t be named after an ice cream treat – we’d prefer it if Google had exclusive rights to that for the use of naming Android versions. Instead, they’ll be bringing the LG Gelato Q to the United States as the LG Enlighten according to accessory listings leaked by Xentris Wireless. Sprint’s set to offer the same handset, as well, but we still don’t have much information regarding these two. Let’s hope those details trickle out soon enough. [PocketNow]
