Along with Samsung’s debut of the Galaxy S II in America came the announcement of some “premium accessories” for the device via the company’s press release. Samsung is covering all their bases with various docking stations, convergence and backup batteries being available for each phone as well as a media dock and HDMI adapter for playing media content on your HDTV.

  • Vehicle dock: The dock charges the phone while docked to ensure uninterrupted GPS usage on long car rides. The dock is windshield or dashboard mountable and includes the sophisticated Vlingo Voice Talk, allowing users to enjoy hands-free control of their Galaxy S II.
  • Battery charging stand with spare battery: This charging solution ensures a backup battery is always on hand, while providing a convenient kick stand for the Galaxy S II.
  • HDTV Adapter: The HDMI adapter supports HD video up to 1080p from the phone to an HDTV, projector, or monitor. Use on the go to connect the Galaxy S II to a TV, monitor, or projector to view purchased Media Hub content, videos, presentations, games, or internet on a big HD screen, or listen to downloaded music from the phone on a home entertainment system.

Aftermath: Which Galaxy S II Device Looks The Best? [Poll]

With today’s announcement from Samsung on the availability of the Galaxy S II in the US, you may have noticed Samsung’s (or the carrier’s) choice to design each device differently. With that, came some strong opinions from our readers on the version they felt was most aesthetically pleasing. We’ve all seen the handful of press shots making the rounds and hopefully you’ve watched our hands-on time with each device before making your final judgement.

Personally, I feel like the the AT&T version agrees with me more seeing how it’s almost a carbon copy of the international version sans the “iPhone-ish” home button. But now it’s time for you guys to make your voices heard in our reader poll. Carrier affiliations aside, which version of the Galaxy S II do you feel like “looks the best.”

Our one and only Rob Jackson is on location in New York for Samsung’s big U.S. unveiling for the Galaxy S II. Rob was able to get some quick hands-on time with each of the devices, showing off some of the new features and Samsung’s all new TouchWiz UI. I’m sure you’ve already noticed from the press shots but these are not cookie cutter versions of each other. Each device has their own subtle aesthetic differences so let’s jump right in and take a look!

Samsung SGH-i927 (Possible AT&T Galaxy S II Variant) Makes Its Way Through the FCC

The Samsung SGH-i927 was once believed to be a keyboard-equipped Galaxy S II variant for AT&T, but we still don’t know for sure. Its specs (the ones we can absolutely confirm) would suggest it’s AT&T’s Galaxy S II, but we have also heard that Ma Bell will have a touch-only device – this could simply be one of many variants sure to make their way to several of our carriers.

Whatever it is, the phone has made its way through the FCC. Nothing much to see here but a heap of technical mumbo jumbo, but the listing does confirm that LTE radios won’t be present. We don’t even know if this one will have HSPA+ radios.

As for the phone itself, aside from that slide-out QWERTY we mentioned earlier all we know is that it will have an 8 megapixel camera with flash, a front-facing camera and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of Android 2.3. [FCC via AndroidForums.com]

Did AT&T’s Samsung Attain (Galaxy S II) Just Pass Through the FCC?

So, I’ve had quite a few Phantips alerting me of a mysterious Samsung SGH-I777 device that just passed through the FCC today. By the looks of it, this could be one of the two versions of the Samsung’s Galaxy S II phones to hit AT&T very soon. Seeing how there’s no indication of a keyboard, we’re going to go ahead and call this the Samsung Attain.

The FCC document lists all of required AT&T’s frequencies including their 4G HSPA bands and even NFC. Is Samsung getting the U.S. ready for a Galaxy S II onslaught next month? I’ve got my credit card ready! All we need now is T-Mobile’s “Hercules” and the Verizon version to complete the Galaxy S II blitz.
