ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Affordable Tablet Becomes Official

ViewSonic has just unveiled a new low price tablet, the ViewPad 7e, a model with affordable price tag and Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the OS. Priced at $200 and shipping in late October, the device won’t support access to Android Market, but it will still get the Amazon Services for Android to compensate.

The slate comes with some preinstalled apps such as Twitter, TuneIn Radio and Amazon Kindle. As far as specs go, you get a 7 inch 800 x 600 pixel display with LED backlight, a microSD card slot, a miniUSB port and a miniHDMI out. The device also packs dual cameras, Adobe Flash 10.3 support and 4GB of internal memory.

The Android version that this unit runs is customized with the ViewScene 3D software and there’s also a homescreen launcher on board with substantial eye candy, that involves a 3D carousel. This is no HTC Sense, but still it’s pretty hot. Will you spend $200 for this gadget?

IFA 2011: ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Tablet Hands On (Video)

Straight from Berlin, at IFA 2011 comes a nifty hands on video of the budget Android tablet we known as ViewSonic ViewPad 7e. This model was caught in action by Slashgear and we get to see the ViewSonic piece of gear in the video at the end of this article.

ViewPad 7e is a great idea, if you’re only now entering the tablet craze and you want a decent price. This is a 7 inch model with a 1024 x 60 pixel resolution, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a simplistic single core 1GHz CPU, plus 512MB RAM. Port-wise, we have mini USB, micro HDMI and a charging port at the bottom of the slate.

Gingerbread is not alone on the tablet and it comes customized with the Viewscene 3D user interface. A 3MP camera will take care of photo taking, while a VGA cam upfront handles video calls. Aside from the old OS, there’s nothing pulling down this product. Well, maybe the plasticky and thick case seems a big dated and not so visually appealing…

ViewSonic ViewPad 10pro Dual OS Tablet Announced

Remember ViewSonic? This is one of those brands behind pretty appealing tablets, just like Archos for example… The reason they’re in the news this time is their new device, the ViewPad 10 pro, a dual OS device with a 1.5GHz processor.

Only hours ago ViewSonic revealed the 10pro model, offering both Windows and Android in the same 10.1 inch package. This model relies on an Atom Z670 processor, the 1.5GHz unit we mentioned, made by Intel and with an impressive power consumption, that grants the slate 8 hours with a single charge. The ViewPad 10pro will come with Windows 7 Professional and Android 2.3, plus 32GB SSD, with a price of $699.

Windows 7 Home Premium, Android 2.3 and a 16GB SSD will bring the price down to $599 and the device is expected in shops later this month. Other things worth mentioning are the ability to play full HD 1080p video, a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and 2GB of integrated memory.
