Coby Kyros MID7024 Tablet Available in the States, Priced a Bit Above $166

Although last year we hesitated to draw this conclusion, now it’s safe to say that the tablets can be considered the death of netbooks. Especially the lower priced units will take down the laptop market in no time. A newcomer in the low price segment is the Coby Kyros MID7024 slate, pictured below.

This device uses a 1GHz Samsung S5PV210 ARM Cortex A8 processor, plus 512MB RAM and Android 2.2 Froyo as the OS. This hardware looks a bit like a combo between the Google Nexus One and Nook Color. Don’t get too excited, since the Kyros comes with a resistive touch display, but at least we have the price to fall back on: $166.47.

Thus, the Coby Kyros becomes the cheapest Cortex A8 CPU slate on the market, with the list of specs also including WiFi, a front camera, a 7 inch resistive screen with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution and HDMI output. 4GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot fill in the blanks.
