ViewSonic ViewPad 7x: World’s first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet

EXCLUSIVE: New tablet inbound
ViewSonic 7x: World?s first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet

HTC might be promising Honeycomb for its HTC Flyer at some point in the future; Pocket-lint has learnt that it looks like Viewsonic?is going to pip them to the post later this month (31 May) at Computex.

According to reliable sources, the company is about to launch the Viewsonic ViewPad 7x, a new Android tablet that will sit above the company’s current 7-inch model the ViewPad 7, but not replace it. It will be unveiled at this year’s trade show in Taipei.

Rather than sport Google Android 2.3.3, the device will run Google’s tablet OS Honeycomb, and be the first to do so at that size.

But it’s not just about the operating system; the ViewSonic ViewPad 7x will come with a Nvidia Tegra 2 chip - dual-core of course - two cameras for front and back recording action, HSPA+ and greater support on the connectivity front.

Other details we’ve managed to glean are that it weighs 380 grams, comes with a funky back design, and features DLNA and HDMI support for sharing media with your TV.

Sadly, we haven’t been able to pin down whether it’s Honeycomb 3.0 or Honeycomb 3.1, or an exact price.

When can you expect to get your mitts on such a device? We've been told that'll hit stores in June, suggesting that the HTC Flyer is going to have a tough time if that Honeycomb update doesn’t get a move on.

We’ll keep you posted.
