Samsung Opens Up Galaxy Tab Source Code

Samsung has just opened up its source code for the Galaxy Tab, or better said parts of it, that were made available for download. We’re not talking open source software over here, so don’t expect to have everything available for you, but it’s a nice piece of news to see a manufacturer complying with license agreements.

The standard user has nothing to gain from this release, but third party devs might have a ball with the following kernels and start creating enhancements and hacks. You can download all you want from here and here’s what may interest you:

* S.E. Asian versions — GTP1000_SEA_OpenSource.zip
* Hong Kong/Taiwan — GT-P1000_HKTW_OpenSource.zip
* Brazil — GT-P1000L_Latin_OpenSource.zip
* USA (T-Mobile) — SGH-T849_OpenSource.zip
* USA (Sprint) — SPH-P100_OpenSource.zip and SPH-P100_OpenSource_Update1.zip
* USA (Verizon) — SCH-I800_OpenSource.zip

Let’s see what extra features the Galaxy Tab can get via third party involvement.
